My Exciting Weekend!

I had such a relaxing weekend, although it was packed full of interesting activities!

Friday
Well, after work on Friday I went to catch my ferry over to HarbourBay (Batam). I was so super tired on the ferry, I fell asleep, but to be woken up by the guy sitting next to me, who passed me a Health Declaration Form to be filled up. It was some formality done by their authorities with regards to the recent H1N1 outbreak. And I couldn’t fall back to sleep after that.

When I reached Batam, got to the custom, and they passed me the Health Declaration Form, they didn’t want it (I sacrificed my sleep to fill the numerous blank fields), I felt a bit cheated. Anyway, when I got out there, I couldn’t find Ervien! He was supposed to pick me up, but we joked about it in the day that maybe he will just not come, and I be stranded! So when I didn’t see him, I panicked! Haha, but eventually he came.

We went to eat at a hotel (forgot which one, there’s so many around) but I was feeling too nauseous from the ferry ride to have any form of appetite! And went to pick out some DVDs to watch before heading back to his place. Watched Make It Happen before I fell swiftly into sleep, drifted in and out of sleep. Wanted to start learning to drive that night, but I was too tired from the week’s worth of work.

Saturday
Woke up with breakfast in bed! And drifted back to sleep after my breakfast, I was too tired. Waited for Ervien to end work before we head to Turi Beach Resort for the day. OMG the beach resort is damn damn nice! The whole place looks really Zen! Haha, if I’m dirt rich I would have bought a unit of their apartment/beach front room complete with a private staircase leading up to a balcony and the room.

After settling down, we went over to a little hut within the resort which we can rent and do jet ski! The nice man (which I later found out was called Yoga, I made jokes about his name to him), asked if we wanted a jet each but I was too scared la. Haha, am still incredibly afraid of falling into the sea and drown! But anyway Ervien likes it fast but I’m too scared of speed! And the seawater splashing all over my face (shouldn’t have make up on!) and I tasted lots of the water. If it wasn’t so expensive I would have wanted to have another go at it, alone! Haha.

After that we headed over to a “kelong” to have dinner, crabs, prawns, cumi goreng (calamari)! Wonderful dinner but I subsequently developed a huge bout of stomachache, which didn’t go away for the night. Went back to the resort to rest cos’ my tummy hurt like hell! But I got hungry in the middle of the night, and called for room service but I canceled it due to the limited variety of food and head out.

Here comes the best part of the whole weekend:

Ervien let me drive his SUV out! I was so excited! Had to ask him to teach me the simpliest things: how to start the car, how to switch the signals on, high beams (so impt!), adjust the side mirrors, rear view mirror, how to switch the gear to drive, brake, accelerate etc! He told me that he’s been driving for 10 years, so he forgot what it feels like to drive for the first time.

Anyway I drove from the resort to the city, which was like a good 30-40 minutes! Haha, but throughout I was more excited than scared. I had to try to keep in my lane, signals, slow down (Ervien reckon I should keep at 60km/h just in case), brake when I see the red lights, check for vehicles before I want to switch lanes to overtake. (HAHA IM SORRY IF ANY OF THESE ARE BORING YOU GUYS!) And the most exciting is trying to make a right turn and a U-turn, I thought I was gonna hold up a lot of traffic! And one thing I learnt, oncoming vehicles doesn’t stop anyone to make a U-turn! And it’s kinda hard to try to listen to turn left, turn right, because I take more than 3o seconds to figure out what’s left and right! And I almost completed a parallel parking! Which was pretty bad cos’ Ervien had to readjust after I got out.

After having our teochew porridge, we got back to the car, Ervien drove first and I took over. But of course life is not exciting enough: the left rear tyre punctured while I was driving. Ervien just calmly told me to stop cos’ we have to change a tyre. This was bad because I was urgently in need to pee!

Anyway, he told me to stay in the car while he jack up the car and change the tyre. I thought I could wait till the resort, but, the road was downhill so it was damn difficult to jack it up safely. Anyway I did the unthinkable la, I asked him to drive somewhere more secluded, and I went to the bushes to pee! HAHA. I really couldn’t wait! And went back into the car to wait for him to change the tyre. He later explained to me that it was very dangerous for a girl to be standing out there and there are people driving past whom may harrass us. But I felt quite safe la. :)

I didn’t drive after that, I felt like it was my fault or I jinx the car. And Ervien also wanted to get back to resort fast. Haha, that concluded the exciting day.

Sunday
Had lunch at another seafood place. Ervien told me that the big boat restaurant that used to be at Sentosa was bought over by the owner of this seafood place. Anyway the whole restaurant was huge, he even have a hotel next to it where we went to play snooker at.

And anyway I just got home. Too tired!

But I had a great weekend!

I definitely gonna learn driving properly, soon. In the meantime, I have my very personal driving instructor, who is very patient, and trust me so much that he was looking for CDs to play music while I was driving!

Okay, kind of looking forward to work this week, I wonder what’s in store for me!
